RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-73

A resolution recognizing Rotier’s Restaurant.

WHEREAS, Rotier’s restaurant has become a landmark in Davidson County since its creation some 56 years ago when this family owned business was established by Evelyn Rotier with her late husband John in 1945, who were the guiding force behind this thriving eatery while serving some of Nashville’s best burgers; and

WHEREAS, part of Rotier’s history, includes the managers, staff and employees who have kept Rotier’s going for over five decades; and

WHEREAS, Rotier’s is a favorite of many and their unique eating experience is like being with family, eating side-by-side with neighbors, musicians, politicians as well as being popular with the local college crowd and visitors alike; and

WHEREAS, Rotier’s has been recognized in several news articles and periodicals for its hamburgers, the restaurant’s simplified menu, quick friendly service and orders to go; and

WHEREAS, Rotier’s was a hit with writer George Motz, who has sampled hundreds of burgers as chronicled in his book Hamburger America, and after recently visiting Nashville, he named Rotier’s as one of his top ten great places in the United State to have a burger; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and congratulates Rotier’s on being featured in USA Today’s September 2nd, 2011 issue and applaud their dedication and commitment to serving the citizens with the utmost excellence.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Rotier’s Restaurant.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Evelyn Rotier on behalf of Rotier’s Restaurant.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
