RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-23

A resolution accepting an AmeriCorps Vista Volunteer Grant from the Tennessee Literacy Coalition to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Community Education Commission, to provide an AmeriCorps program participant to assist in building volunteer capacity.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Literacy Coalition has awarded an AmeriCorps Vista Volunteer Grant, with an estimated value of $20,800.00 and a required cash match of $2,500.00, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Community Education Commission, to provide an AmeriCorps program participant to assist in building volunteer capacity; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the AmeriCorps Vista Volunteer Grant by and between the Tennessee Literacy Coalition, with an estimated value of $20,800.00, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Community Education Commission, to assist in building volunteer capacity, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this grant be appropriated to the Community Education Commission, based on revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
