RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1811
A resolution calling for the Mayor to consider alternative areas to the Historic Fairgrounds of Davidson County for Economic Development Initiatives.
WHEREAS, Davidson County voters in the August 4, 2011 election, by an overwhelming majority of 70%, voted yes for ratification of the “Save The Fairgrounds” amendment; and
WHEREAS, Davidson County’s unemployment rate is currently in excess of 9%; and
WHEREAS, Davidson County, because of the quality of life and low tax rates is attractive to businesses looking to expand or relocate; and
WHEREAS, there are areas in Davidson County other than downtown and the historic fairgrounds that are attractive for economic development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as calling for Mayor Karl Dean to consider alternative areas to the Historic Fairgrounds of Davidson County for Economic Development Initiatives.
Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Mayor Karl Dean.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
