RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1756

A resolution authorizing an amendment to an agreement between the United States Department of the Army and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for a Flood Preparedness Study.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Army has offered an amendment to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Department of Water and Sewerage Services, for an expanded flood preparedness study; and,

WHEREAS, RS2010-1453 authorized the acceptance of the contract for the Flood Preparedness Study; and,

WHEREAS, the amendment is offered for the purpose of providing additional funding to develop predictive Real Time Simulation Modeling for 6 streams, updating hydrologic analyses and incorporating new LIDAR data, and evaluating potential flood damage reduction alternatives for Richland, Whites, and Browns Creeks; and,

WHEREAS, the additional work contemplated by the amendment is not to exceed $596,000 and will be shared evenly between with the Metropolitan Government and the United States Department of the Army. The Metropolitan Government’s additional share shall not exceed $298,000; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that said amendment be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That the amendment to the agreement between the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government for a Flood Preparedness Study in Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
