RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1734

A resolution recognizing Mr. David Waynick for his renovation of the GranDale Mansion in Nashboro Village.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we recognize a public servant who through his efforts has distinguished himself as a true historian, and who has dedicated himself to improving the community by the great work that he has done and his love for preservation; and

WHEREAS, this house is located in Nashboro Village and is affectionately called, “The GranDale Manor”, received a face lift thanks to Mr. David Waynick, the proud owner, who has worked tirelessly over the past several months to preserve this antebellum home back to its glory; and

WHEREAS, this historic house sits just off Murfreesboro Road and was built in 1859 during the 19 century, and at the time of the Civil War, serving as a hospital for the Union forces. Its most notable feature is the central Portico with two large columns; and

WHEREAS, with the renovation of “The GranDale Manor”, the home operates today as Mr. Waynick’s law office on the second floor and a community facility on the ground floor; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mr. David Waynick for his accomplishments .

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. David Waynick for his renovation of the GranDale Mansion in Nashboro Village.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. David Waynick.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
