RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1732

A resolution recognizing Sergeant Connie Tripp on the occasion of his retirement from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

WHEREAS, on January 3, 2012, Sergeant Connie Tripp, will complete his remarkable and distinguished career in law enforcement with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, after thirty-one years of exemplary service; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Connie Tripp’s noteworthy 31-year career of law enforcement with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department began in October of 1980, and he steadily rose through the ranks; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department Sergeant Connie Tripp began his police career as a Police Officer I in February of 1981 before being promoted to Police Officer II six months later; in September of 1988 he was promoted to Sergeant working out of the South Precinct until May of 1990 when he was transferred to the Training Academy and in August of 2004 he transferred to the West Precinct as the Community Coordinator, a position he would hold with distinction until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, through his many positions within the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department he has remained dedicated to the honor of his profession, helpful to all in need, and respected by many in the community; and

WHEREAS, he remains firm in his belief that law enforcement officials, who gain the attention of the general public, should hold themselves to the highest of standards, a testament to the unwavering commitment to excellence he has exhibited each and every day as a law enforcement official; and

WHEREAS, throughout his estimable career, Sergeant Tripp has demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability and integrity, winning the unbridled respect and admiration of his colleagues, is spoken with high regard in the community, has an uncanny ability to communicate with various persons and groups, and has a wonderful and peaceful demeanor, is always cheerful and has a notable smile; and

WHEREAS, no stranger to awards and accolades during his career with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Sergeant Tripp has received numerous letters and emails of appreciation, such as from the Office of the District Attorney General, YWCA, Director of The Malls at Green Hills, Chief Executive Officer of Hannah 3 Inc., along with countless others; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Sergeant Connie Tripp for his invaluable service he has given to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the City of Nashville and wish him well on his retirement.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Sergeant Connie Tripp on the occasion of his retirement from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Sergeant Connie Tripp.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
