RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1716

A resolution approving an application for the Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grant from the U. S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Police Department, to improve the quality and timeliness of forensic science and medical examiner services.

WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Justice, is accepting applications for the Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grant in an amount not to exceed $174,983.00 with no cash match required; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application for the Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grant to improve the quality and timeliness of forensic science and medical examiner services, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Police Department is authorized to submit said grant application to the U. S. Department of Justice.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
