RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1712

A resolution approving an application for the Encouraging Innovation: Field-Initiated Programs Grant from the U. S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Sheriff’s Department, to modify effective jail transition practices by delivering risk/needs assessments, case planning, post release evidence based aftercare programs, and targeted interventions.

WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Justice is accepting applications for the Encouraging Innovation: Field-Initiated Programs Grant in an amount not to exceed $299,716.00 with no cash match required; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application for the Encouraging Innovation: Field-Initiated Programs Grant to modify effective jail transition practices by delivering risk/needs assessments, case planning, post release evidence based aftercare programs, and targeted interventions, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Sheriff’s Department is authorized to submit said grant application to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
