RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1682

A resolution approving a grant application for a grant from the Greater Nashville Regional Council to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Social Services Commission, to provide meals that meet RDA nutritional guidelines at congregate meal sites and meal delivery services to eligible seniors.

WHEREAS, the Greater Nashville Regional Council is accepting grant applications for funding to provide meals that meet RDA nutritional guidelines to eligible seniors with an award of $450,700.00 with a required cash match of $50,078.00; to provide caregiver meals with an award of $8,000.00 with a required cash match of $899.00; to provide congregate meal sites for eligible seniors with an award of $165,433.00 with no cash match required; to provide meals to be delivered to seniors in their homes with an award of $285,500.00 with a required cash match of $31,722.22; and to provide delivered meals to eligible seniors with an award of $184,800.00 (state funding) with a required cash match of $7,466.67 for a total grant award of $1,094,433.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Social Services Commission, to provide meals that meet RDA nutritional guidelines at congregate meal sites and meal delivery services to eligible seniors, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Social Services Commission is authorized to submit said grant application to the Greater Nashville Regional Council.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
