RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1663

A resolution approving a cooperative agreement with the United States Department of the Interior - United States Geological Survey and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services, to operate and maintain gauging stations on the Cumberland River and water quality monitors and streamflow gauges in several streams in Davidson County (No. 11ESTNGEML00037).

WHEREAS, The United States Department of the Interior – United States Geological Survey has an existing agreement with The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to operate and maintain gauging stations on the Cumberland River and streamflow gauges and water quality monitors in several streams in Davidson County; and,

WHEREAS, The United States Department of the Interior – United States Geological Survey and the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services wish to continue the existing agreement for Fiscal Year 2012 for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 at a cost of $97,450.00 to the Metropolitan Government and matching USGS funds of $97,450.00 for a total of $194,900.00 as set forth in Exhibit A hereto; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. BL2001-870 agreements for this program may be approved by Resolution.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the cooperative agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services, and the United States Department of the Interior – United States Geological Survey agreement no. 11ESTNGEML00037 to operate and maintain gauging stations on the Cumberland River and streamflow gauges and water quality monitors in several streams in Davidson County; a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
