RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1642

A resolution approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the United States Department of Justice by which the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shall provide police assistance to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), has requested that the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department assist the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force by assigning one or more experienced police officers to the Task Force; and,

WHEREAS, the Intergovernmental Agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein provides terms for such assistance, including reimbursement by the DEA for overtime payments made to Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officers assigned to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force; and,

WHEREAS, T.C.A. § 12-9-104 authorizes the Metropolitan Government to enter into intergovernmental agreements with agencies of the federal government for cooperative projects with the approval of the governing body; and,

WHEREAS, the work of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force promotes goals of both The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the DEA; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the Intergovernmental Agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Intergovernmental Agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, and the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, for the assistance of Metropolitan police officers with the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall become effective from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
