RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1627

A resolution recognizing Miss Jocelyn D. Watts, Miss Black Tennessee USA 2011.

WHEREAS, Miss. Jocelyn D. Watts of Antioch, Tennessee, was named Miss Black Tennessee USA 2011, and, in Miss Watts, the organization found a deserving representative and a talented, beautiful, and accomplished young woman; and

WHEREAS, Miss. Watts is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Watts, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Miss Watts holds a degree in Psychology and a minor in Family Studies and Child Development from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University in Normal, Alabama. She is a member of the Kappa Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and she currently attends Tennessee State University as a Masters/Eds student majoring in School Psychology; and

WHEREAS, she has a special interest in children and works for the Department of Education for the State of Tennessee as a Service Coordinator through the Tennessee Early Intervention System; and

WHEREAS, a women of faith, Jocelyn Watts is an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville where she works with the youth; and

WHEREAS, she plans to promote her platform, advocating for children with special needs, along with the various programs championed by the Miss Black USA Organization, the “Red Heart Association” and “The Go Green Campaign”; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Miss Jocelyn D. Watts upon her reign as Miss Black Tennessee USA 2011 and for her achievements and outstanding representation of the State of Tennessee and extend to her all the best in her future success and as she represents the state in the Miss Black USA 2011 pageant this August in Washington DC.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Miss Jocelyn D. Watts, Miss Black Tennessee USA 2011.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Miss Jocelyn D. Watts.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
