RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1625
A resolution recognizing and honoring Elder Leroy Hatchett upon his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service.
WHEREAS, Elder Leroy Hatchett has spent more than 20 years as a valuable postal employee, through snow, and ice, and dark of night; and
WHEREAS, he always had time for a smile, a wave, a conversation, or a pat on the head for the children; and
WHEREAS, he treated the families on his route with love and kindness; and
WHEREAS, in addition to watching the families on his route grow, he and his beloved wife Veatrice have raised 5 children and 12 grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, after preparation received from Emmanuel Bible College, he had the vision and commitment to create Zion House of Prayer, whose congregation will undoubtedly be the recipient of many more hours of his leadership and guidance upon his retirement; and
WHEREAS, this resolution will be delivered on his birthday, May 6, at a gathering of families from his route who want to show their appreciation of him; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Elder Leroy Hatchett, for the great service he has given to the U.S. Postal Service and wish him a happy and gratifying retirement.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and honoring Elder Leroy Hatchett upon his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Elder Leroy Hatchett.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
