RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1621

A resolution recognizing and congratulating South Precinct Commander Michael Alexander of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on receiving the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Public Service Award.

WHEREAS, the Public Service Award is a designation awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which recognizes individuals as a point person in working with NHTSA to assist other police agencies in the United States develop and implement innovative enforcement strategies in areas where data shows a high correlation between crime and serious traffic crashes; and

WHEREAS, Commander Alexander, continues to perform his duties with the utmost professionalism, experience and knowledge as he continues to protect the communities of Nashville; and he also willingly provides his leadership and expertise to other law enforcement agencies around the country; and

WHEREAS, during his career with the Metropolitan Police Department he has remained dedicated to the honor of his profession, helpful to all in need, and respected by both his colleagues and many in the community; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and congratulates Commander Michael Alexander on this award, and acknowledge the hard work and dedication you have exhibited throughout your career and we wish you continued success in the coming years.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating South Precinct Commander Michael Alexander of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on receiving the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Public Service Award.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to South Precinct Commander Michael Alexander.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
