RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1558

A resolution approving an application for a Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the State Trial Courts, to reduce recidivism rates among felony offenders with mental health and substance abuse disorders.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice is accepting applications for a Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program Grant in an amount not to exceed $199,882.00 with an in-kind match of $39,976.40 to reduce recidivism rates among felony offenders with mental health and substance abuse disorders; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government’s application for the Mental Health Collaboration Program Grant in an amount not to exceed $199,882.00 with an in-kind match of $39,976.40 to reduce recidivism rates among felony offenders with mental health and substance abuse disorders, a copy of which grant application is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and the State Trial Courts are authorized to submit said application to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
