RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1510

A resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement between the State of Tennessee, acting by and through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Department of Safety, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, regarding participation in the Tennessee Fusion Center.

WHEREAS, the intergovernmental agreement between the State of Tennessee, acting by and through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Department of Safety, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, attached hereto, specifies the parties’ roles and responsibilities with regard to the Tennessee Fusion Center; and,

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Fusion Center was created to help public safety agencies communicate and defend against terrorist activities; and,

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated Section 12-9-104 provides that intergovernmental agreements between the State and political subdivisions of the State may be approved by resolution; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this intergovernmental agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the intergovernmental agreement by and between the State of Tennessee, acting by and through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Department of Safety, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, regarding participation in the Tennessee Fusion Center, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
