RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1504

A resolution recognizing and congratulating Head Coach Charles Hunter, the players and staff of the Nashville Storm on winning the 2010 NAFL National Championship.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Storm football team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence having achieved unprecedented franchise success during the 2010 football season while quietly winning the NAFL National Championship all while playing there homes games at Stratford High School; and

WHEREAS, The Nashville Storm is a minor league outdoor football team in their 9th season of play in the NAFL, North America’s largest minor outdoor football league; and

WHEREAS, these fine young men have consistently represented the Great City of Nashville nationally and are to be commended for their performance, dedication, drive and sportsmanship as they made possible another successful season both on and off the playing field; and

WHEREAS, through the season, the team took a never-say-die attitude in going undefeated with a regular season record of 10 wins and 0 losses, returning to the NAFL playoffs for the 9th time and in winning all four playoff games returned to the NAFL National Championship Game in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and

WHEREAS, making their 3rd appearance and 2nd consecutive appearance in the NAFL National Championship Game, the Nashville Storm captured the 2010 NAFL National Championship with an upset victory over the Bellingham, Washington Bulldogs 41-20 to win their first NAFL championship; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Storm benefited greatly from the leadership and guidance of 5th year Head Coach Charles Hunter and his coaching staff, a team of incredibly hardworking individuals whose football knowledge and experience brought out the talents in players and turned players into champions and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Storm has compiled an aggregate 98-17 record in its’ first 8 years of play and has won the NAFL Southern Conference Championship in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2009, earning berths in each of those years in the “Final Four” of the NAFL’s National Playoffs; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the 2010 Nashville Storm for their remarkable performance in the 2010 season and we wish them continued success for next season and all those that follow.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the and congratulating Head Coach Charles Hunter, the players and staff of the Nashville Storm on winning the 2010 NAFL National Championship.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Head Coach Charles Hunter on behalf of the team.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
