RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-1503

A resolution recognizing the Nashville Health Care Council’s 15th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, founded in 1995 as an initiative of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Council’s membership includes a number of national health care industry leaders and visionaries; and

WHEREAS, the health care industry is Nashville’s largest economic driver, with an overall benefit of more than 200,000 jobs and nearly $30 billion to the local economy annually; and

WHEREAS, the industry generates nearly 400,000 jobs globally and more than $62 billion in revenue; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Health Care Council is a unique association of health care industry leaders working together to further establish Nashville’s position as the nation’s health care industry capital through educational programs, networking and mentoring activities to its members and global outreach; and

WHEREAS, the Council promotes the continued growth of Nashville's health care industry by fostering a supportive operating environment for existing, start-up and relocating health care businesses to the more than 250 health care companies and 300 professional service firms located here; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the 15th Anniversary of the Nashville Health Care Council and commend the organization on their continuing work and dedication in further positioning Nashville as a global health care industry capital.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Nashville Health Care Council’s 15th Anniversary.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
