RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1373

A resolution approving a Safe Routes to Schools Grant Agreement by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Department of Public Works, for the construction of 1,570 linear feet of sidewalk along Oakwood Avenue in the vicinity of Tom Joy Elementary School, PIN 112312.00.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, has awarded a Safe Routes to Schools Grant in an amount not to exceed $220,349.00 with no cash match required to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Department of Public Works, for the construction of 1,570 linear feet of sidewalk along Oakwood Avenue in the vicinity of Tom Joy Elementary School, PIN 112312.00; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant agreement be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Safe Routes to Schools Grant Agreement by and between The State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, in an amount not to exceed $220,349.00 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Department of Public Works, for the construction of 1,570 linear feet of sidewalk along Oakwood Avenue in the vicinity of Tom Joy Elementary School, PIN 112312.00, a copy of which grant agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant agreement be appropriated to the Metropolitan Nashville Department of Public Works.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
