RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1354

A resolution recognizing Steve Glover for his service to the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education.

WHEREAS, Mr. Glover served as chairman of the McGavock Parent Cluster Group from 2001-2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Glover served on the Parent Advisory Council from 2001-2005; and

WHEREAS, elected to the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education in August of 2006 and serving in that capacity until August 2010, Mr. Glover has served the board as the Chairman of Governance, Advocacy, and Budget and Finance; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Glover was instrumental in seeking out the current Director of Metro Schools Doctor Jesse Register; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Glover was instrumental in encouraging the passage of state legislation that allows a review process by an administrative law judge resulting in improved board efficiency; and

WHEREAS, he believes in the necessity of putting children first when making any decision and this is how he served during his four years on the school board; and

WHEREAS, Steve Glover is to be commended for his accomplishments, during his tenure on the board; and

WHEREAS, Steve Glover will be greatly missed by the members of the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Steve Glover for his service, hard work and accomplishments in helping mold our education system to meet the needs of both today and tomorrow’s children and wish him well in his future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Steve Glover for his service to the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Steve Glover.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
