RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1352

A resolution recognizing and congratulating newly elected president of the American Correctional Association Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall.

WHEREAS, after his swearing-in at the 140th Congress of Correction in Chicago, for the next two years Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall will serve as president of the American Correctional Association, becoming the first sheriff to serve in that role since the organization was founded in 1870; and

WHEREAS, the American Correctional Association is the oldest and largest professional correctional organization in the world and it represents all disciplines within the corrections profession. Its more than 18,000 members include practitioners working in juvenile and adult prisons and jails, halfway houses, treatment facilities, probation, parole and community corrections agencies. ACA promotes excellence in corrections by offering professional development and certification, online training, standards and accreditation, and research and publications; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Hall continues to demonstrate the utmost professionalism, integrity, and leadership while continuing his efforts to encourage jail accreditation and certification as his major focus for our country’s jail’s; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Sheriff Daron Hall for the invaluable service he gives to the City of Nashville and wish him every continued success as he embarks on his journey as president of the American Correctional Association.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating newly elected president of the American Correctional Association Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Sheriff Daron Hall.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
