RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1287

A resolution approving Amendment Two to a grant from the American Legacy Foundation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to test the efficacy of the smoke-free home and car pledges that have been collected from the target segment.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, previously amended the grant from the American Legacy Foundation to increase the amount of the original award by $42,984.00 from $86,029.00 to $129,013.00, which amendment one was approved by RS2009-1056; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend their agreement by reallocating unspent grant funds of $93,637.73 to test the efficacy of the smoke-free home and car pledges that have been collected ; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment two be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That amendment two to the grant contract by and between the American Legacy Foundation and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to reallocate unspent grant funds of $93,637.73 to test the efficacy of the smoke-free home and car pledges that have been collected, a copy of which amendment two is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same..

Section 2. That the amount of this grant is to be appropriated to the Department of Health based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
