RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1273
A resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Davidson County Juvenile Court, and Williamson County to temporarily house female juvenile detainees in Williamson County.
WHEREAS, the Juvenile Justice Center of Davidson County sustained extensive flood damage on May 2, 2010; and,
WHEREAS, the flooding has rendered the Juvenile Justice Center temporarily uninhabitable; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County does not currently have proper facilities in which to house its female juvenile detainees; and,
WHEREAS, Williamson County has agreed to house female juvenile detainees from Davidson County, provided space is available; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this agreement be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the intergovernmental agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Davidson County Juvenile Court, and Williamson County to temporarily house female juvenile detainees in Williamson County, a copy of which intergovernmental agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
