RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1242

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claim of Charles L. Townsend, Sr. against The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in the amount of $6,500.00, and that said amount be paid out of the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

WHEREAS, on July 1, 2008, a vehicle owned by the Metropolitan Government and being operated by a Library employee struck the rear of a vehicle owned and operated by Charles L. Townsend, Sr. resulting in personal injury; and,

WHEREAS, after investigation, the Department of Law believes that the settlement amount as set forth in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and in the Metropolitan Government’s best interest, and the Department of Law recommends that this lawsuit be compromised and settled for $6,500.00.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the claim of Charles L. Townsend, Sr. for the sum of $6,500.00, and that said amount be paid out of the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
