RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1224
A resolution encouraging cable, video and satellite service providers to provide service discounts for seniors and disabled citizens.
WHEREAS, many seniors and disabled citizens within Nashville and Davidson County are on fixed incomes and may have difficulty affording monthly cable, video and satellite service subscriptions; and
WHEREAS, there are several cable, video and satellite service providers in Nashville, including Comcast, DirecTV, DISH Network and AT&T U-verse, among others; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County that these cable, video and satellite service providers be encouraged to offer a discount for seniors and disabled citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as encouraging cable, video and satellite service providers to offer a service discount for seniors and disabled citizens.
Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to each member of the CATV Special Committee.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
