RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1198

A resolution recognizing the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools 2011 Principal of the Year from each tier - elementary, middle and high school.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should recognize those outstanding principals who have devoted their careers to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee’s students and who work assiduously to motive both the teachers and the students in encouraging them to reach their full potential in all they do at the school; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Kimberly Fowler of Mt. View Elementary; Dr. Dorothy Gunn of I.T. Creswell Middle Arts Magnet and Mrs. Aimee Wyatt of Antioch High are such estimable school administrators, who have distinguished themselves as professionals of the greatest dedication, ability, and integrity; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Kimberly Fowler of Mt. View Elementary; Dr. Dorothy Gunn of I.T. Creswell Middle Arts Magnet and Mrs. Aimee Wyatt of Antioch High have recently been selected as 2011 Principal of the Year from their tier, an honor most befitting their outstanding tenure as a school administrator as it recognizes the positive influence they have on so many young lives; and

WHEREAS, these extremely talented and compassionate educators, Mrs. Fowler, Dr. Gunn and Mrs. Wyatt truly epitomizes the ideal of the dedicated Principal who are wholly committed to the highest ideals of public service, quality education and opportunities for students in providing students with a challenging curriculum, superior instruction and meaningful assessments and they demonstrate superior qualities of leadership as they continue to improve school programs; and

WHEREAS, these three remarkable individuals serve as an inspiration to their colleagues and students alike, and their friendship and counsel are highly valued by those who know them; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mrs. Kimberly Fowler, Dr. Dorothy Gunn and Mrs. Aimee Wyatt as the 2011 Principal of the Year from each tier - elementary, middle and high school, commend their exceptional service to Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, and salute their professional expertise and wish them all the best.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools 2011 Principal of the Year from each tier - elementary, middle and high school.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mrs. Kim Fowler, Dr. Dorothy Gunn and Mrs. Aimee Wyatt.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
