RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1133

A resolution recognizing the Nashville Storm.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Storm football team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence having achieved unprecedented franchise success during the 2009 football season; and

WHEREAS, The Nashville Storm is a minor league outdoor football team in their 8th season of play in the NAFL, North America’s largest minor outdoor football league; and

WHEREAS, these fine young men have consistently represented the Great City of Nashville nationally and are to be commended for their performance, dedication, drive and sportsmanship as they made possible another successful season both on and off the playing field; and

WHEREAS, in 2009, the Nashville Storm went undefeated with a regular season record of 11 wins and 0 losses, returning to the NAFL playoffs for the 8th time and in winning all three playoff games returned to the NAFL Championship Game in Miami, FL where they suffered their only loss, ending the 2009 season 14-1 and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Storm benefited greatly from the leadership and guidance of 4th year Head Coach Charles Hunter and his coaching staff, a team of incredibly hardworking individuals whose football knowledge and experience brought out the talents in players and turned players into champions and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Storm has compiled an aggregate 84-16 record in its’ first 7 years of play and has won the NAFL Southern Conference Championship in 2003, 2004, and 2006, earning berths in each of those years in the “Final Four” of the NAFL’s National Playoffs; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the 2009 Nashville Storm for their remarkable performance in the 2009 season and we wish them continued success for next season and all those that follow.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Nashville Storm.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Head Coach Charles Hunter on behalf of the team.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
