RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1131

A resolution recognizing Larry Stephenson on his retirement with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, on February 1, 2010, Larry Stephenson, State Trial Court Administrator, retired having served the Metropolitan Government with distinction for nearly 18 years and is to be commended for his professionalism, experience and knowledge of the court system and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stephenson began his career with the Metropolitan Government on March 16, 1992, working in the County Clerk’s Office as a Deputy Clerk where he was responsible for the implementation and installation of a stand-alone computer system that proved to be very successful and paid for itself within a period of nine months; and

WHEREAS, in 1997, he was appointed Trial Court Administrator, where he provided exceptional assistance to all of the circuit, chancery and criminal courts, a position he held with distinction until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as the Trial Court Administrator some of his major accomplishments include facilitating on behalf of the Trial Courts, the renovation of the Historic Courthouse and the construction of the A. A. Birch Building, enhanced security programs, state of the art courtroom technology, and the implementation of four new Trial Courts; and

WHEREAS, throughout his estimable career, Larry Stephenson has demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and he will sorely be missed; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Larry Stephenson upon his retirement from service as the State Trial Court Administrator and wish him well.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Larry Stephenson on his retirement with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Larry Stephenson.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
