RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1129

A resolution approving amendment two to a grant from the Tennessee Department of Human Services to the Metropolitan Action Commission for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to provide financial assistance with heating/cooling costs including funds available to leverage against non-federal sources for eligible customers.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Action Commission, previously entered into a Grant Agreement with the Tennessee Department of Human Services for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP); and,

WHEREAS, the parties previously amended the agreement and wish to amend that Grant Agreement again to increase the amount of the grant by $1,961,131.00 from $3,666,255.00 for a new total of $5,627,386.00 with a required cash match of $104,600.00, a copy of which amendment two is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Action Commission has accepted amendment two to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grant, attached hereto and incorporated herein, pursuant to its authority under M.C.L. 2.108.050; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the funds from amendment two to the grant by and between the Tennessee Department of Human Services in an amount not to exceed $1,961,131.00 to the Metropolitan Action Commission, for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to provide financial assistance with heating/cooling costs including funds available to leverage against non-federal sources for eligible customers, a copy of which amendment 2 is attached hereto and incorporated herein, be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
