RESOLUTION NO. RS2010-1093

A resolution appropriating $180,000 in grant funds from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Planning Commission, to provide transportation and planning activities to support development of state and local land use strategies.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed $180,000.00 with a required cash match of $10,000.00 to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Planning Commission, to provide transportation and planning activities to support development of state and local land use strategies; and,

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has authority to enter into agreements and accept donations for planning purposes pursuant to Section 11.504 of the Metropolitan Charter; and,

WHEREAS, on December 10, 2009, the Metropolitan Planning Commission approved the grant agreement between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County on behalf of the Metropolitan Planning Organization; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the funds received pursuant to a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation for transportation and planning activities, in an amount not to exceed $180,000.00, are hereby appropriated to the Metropolitan Planning Commission based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
