RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-973

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville General Sessions Court, to provide funding for certified interpreters to work in civil related Order of Protection dockets pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts is accepting grant applications to provide funding for certified interpreters to work in civil related Order of Protection dockets with an award of $7,000.00 with no required cash match; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville General Sessions Court, to provide funding for certified interpreters to work in civil related Order of Protection dockets pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville General Sessions Court is authorized to submit said grant application to the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
