RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-971

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to provide funding to pay overtime and benefits for officers working in the Domestic Violence Warrant Reduction Initiative pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, is accepting grant applications to provide funding to pay overtime and benefits for officers working in the Domestic Violence Warrant Reduction Initiative with an award of $45,330.00 and an in-kind match of $23,463.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to provide funding to pay overtime and benefits for officers working in the Domestic Violence Warrant Reduction Initiative pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is authorized to submit said grant application to the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
