RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-908

A resolution recognizing and congratulating Two Rivers Middle School Principal William (Bill) Moody on being named the 2009-2010 “Middle School Principal of the Year” for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, William (Bill) Moody, Principal at Two Rivers Middle School, has devoted his career to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee’s students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Moody has an excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation, and vision that has brought invaluable assets to not only the students of Two Rivers Middle but to the faculty also; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Moody was born in South Haven, Michigan to a father who was a metallurgical engineer and a mother who worked as an office manager/receptionist for a local dentist. He attended the public schools of Michigan and graduated from L.C. Mohr High School in South Haven; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Moody obtained his undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education at George Peabody College in Nashville and then a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University in Nashville; and

WHEREAS he has been married to his wife of 30 years, Patricia C. Sanders; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Moody began his 32 year teaching career with the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County School System with the Cavert Special Education Program before moving to teach at Napier Middle School. He also taught at McKissack Middle and Johnson Middle School before his appointment as Assistant Principal at McKissack. This was followed by the appointment as Principal at Haynes Middle School where he served until the transfer to his present position where he currently serves in his eighth year as Principal of Two Rivers Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Moody has received several awards and recognitions during his career that include Teacher of the Year, twice, and has served his colleagues and profession through leadership positions in the MNEA as Executive Board Member, Secretary, Finance Office and Vice-President; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and honors, as a result of a selection process that requires nomination, evaluation and selection by his professional peers, William (Bill) Moody on receiving the “Middle School Principal of the Year” award and commend his exceptional service to his students and faculty, and salute his professional expertise and wish him much success as his continues his career and future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Two Rivers Middle School Principal William (Bill) Moody on being named the 2009-2010 “Middle School Principal of the Year” for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Two Rivers Middle School Principal William (Bill) Moody.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
