RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-907

A resolution recognizing and congratulating McGavock High School’s Stacey C. Hinchman on being named the 2009-2010 “High School Teacher of the Year” for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, Stacey Hinchman, AP English Teacher at McGavock High School, has devoted her career to providing the highest quality education for Nashville’s high school students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Hinchman brings enthusiasm and energy to her students, has an excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation, and vision that has brought invaluable assets not only to her classroom but to McGavock High School as well; and

WHEREAS, Stacey is a byproduct of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools up until her senior year when her community high school was closed and she transferred to Donelson Christian Academy to graduate; and

WHEREAS, Stacey was born to parents Joe and Sandra Reasonover and has followed in the manner of her mother who was a first grade teacher at Dodson Elementary School and her dad who taught English and coached at Hillwood and Madison High Schools; and

WHEREAS she has been married to Brian Hinchman for 16 years and is the mother of two sons; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Hinchman obtained her undergraduate degree in English at Belmont University in Nashville and then a Master’s degree in Arts and Education at Cumberland University in Lebanon; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Hinchman began her teaching career with the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County School System at McGavock High eighteen years ago and has taught standard and honors classes in each grade levels including Shakespearean Studies; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Stacey has received several awards and recognitions during her career including Student Teacher of the Year in 1992; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and honors, as a result of a selection process that requires nomination, evaluation and selection by her professional peers, Stacey Hinchman on receiving the “High School Teacher of the Year” award and commend her exceptional service to her students and salute her professional expertise and wish her much success as she continues her career and future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating McGavock High School’s Stacey C. Hinchman on being named the 2009-2010 “High School Teacher of the Year” for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to McGavock High School Teacher Stacey Hinchman.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
