RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-889

A resolution to appropriate funds received from Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Incorporated, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission in conjunction with the Share the Warmth Program, to provide funds to aid in heating and cooling crises of eligible customers.

WHEREAS, Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Incorporated, has awarded a grant under the Share the Warmth Program in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00 with no required cash match to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission to provide funds to aid in heating and cooling crises of eligible customers; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to this agreement, Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Incorporated expects to send funds to the Metropolitan Action Commission on a monthly basis, with such total funds not to exceed $200,000.00 for the 2010 fiscal year; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Action Commission is accepting these funds pursuant to its authority under M.C.L. 2.108.050; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the funds from the grant by and between Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Incorporated in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, to provide funds to aid in heating and cooling crises of eligible customers, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
