RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-878

A resolution approving an application for an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Strengthening Communities – Capacity Building Grant from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Social Services Commission, to provide capacity building services to nonprofit organizations.

WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services is accepting applications for an ARRA Strengthening Communities – Capacity Building Grant, with an award of $250,000.00 and a required match of $62,500.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application for an ARRA Strengthening Communities – Capacity Building Grant, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and the Metropolitan Nashville Social Services Commission is authorized to submit said grant application to the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
