RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-873

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department, to provide funding for the renovation and building of a fire station pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is accepting grant applications to provide funding for the renovation and building of a fire station with an award of $4,167,475.00 with no required cash match; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department, to provide funding for the renovation and building of a fire station, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department is authorized to submit said grant application to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
