RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-839

A resolution designating certain nonprofit organizations to receive community enhancement grant funds pursuant to substitute ordinance BL2009-456.

Whereas, as a part of the operating budget for fiscal year 2010 adopted by the Council in Substitute Ordinance BL2009-456, the Metropolitan Council appropriated $675,000 to Domestic Violence Programs, $675,000 to Education and After School Programs, and $450,000 to Miscellaneous Community Agencies/Services; and

Whereas, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations in accordance with the guidelines of the metropolitan government; and

Whereas, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government has accepted applications from nonprofit organizations to receive these funds; and

Whereas, pursuant to the guidelines of the Division of Grants Coordination, the Mayor is requesting that the appropriated funds be distributed to 24 nonprofit organizations; and

Whereas, a copy of the List of Community Enhancement Funds Recipients and the amounts to be received by each of the 24 nonprofit organizations is attached to this Resolution; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to these 24 nonprofit organizations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That $675,000 is hereby appropriated to Domestic Violence Programs, $675,000 appropriated to Education and After School Programs, and $450,000 appropriated to Miscellaneous Community Agencies/Services, in accordance with the attached List of Community Enhancement Funds Recipients.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
