RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-814

A resolution approving a grant application from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, for the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Local Jail Re-entry Program to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, to provide funding for three re-entry specialists.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, is accepting grant applications for the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Local Jail Re-entry Program to provide funding for three re-entry specialists with an award of $327,382.00 with no required cash match; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, to provide funding for three re-entry specialists, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department is authorized to submit said grant application to the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
