RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-741

A resolution recognizing the Metropolitan Government employees and board and commission members who are LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Accredited Professional) certified.

WHEREAS, acknowledging those individuals who are LEED certified as they represent an exemplary group of public servants who have established themselves as leaders in green building practices; and

WHEREAS, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings; and

WHEREAS, LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings' performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality; and

WHEREAS, a LEED AP or LEED Accredited Professional is someone who passes the exam administered by the Green Building Certification Institute, A LEED AP can assist the construction or renovation of a building project and as a team member working with architects, engineers and contractors help a building obtain LEED status; and

WHEREAS, the following employees, board and commission members are LEED AP certified:

David Ewing              Board of Zoning Appeals
John Harris               Plumbing Examiners and Appeals Board
Michelle Thomas        Metro Nashville Public Schools – Contract Worker
Bob Heffington          Metro Nashville Public Schools
Rebecca Dohn           Metro Water Services
Tim Netsch               Metro Parks

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the dedication shown by the Metropolitan Government employees and board and commission members who are LEED AP certified and congratulate them and wish them success in his future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Metropolitan Government employees and board and commission members who are LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Accredited Professional) certified.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the Metropolitan Government employees and board and commission members who are LEED AP certified.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
