RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-695

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the United States Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to create and preserve jobs and to increase community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice is accepting applications for a COPS Hiring Recovery Program grant in the amount of $20,808,240.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application for a grant from the United States Department of Justice, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, is authorized to submit said application to the United States Department of Justice.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
