RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-673

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to accept a grant contract for final payment from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the purchase and removal of homes on Wimpole Drive which lie in a flood plain.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government, through the Metropolitan Council’s passage of Ordinance BL2002-1164, previously accepted a grant from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency to purchase and demolish homes located in a flood plain on Wimpole Drive; and,

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has offered The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County a final payment of $46,178.00, with no local match, to cover cost overruns incurred during the acquisition and demolition of these homes; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant contract from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, for payment of an amount not to exceed $46,178.00 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County, with no local match, for cost overruns incurred in the purchase and removal of homes on Wimpole Drive, which are located in a flood plain, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County requiring it.
