RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-670

A resolution approving an amendment to a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for a gang resistance education and training program.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice previously entered into a grant agreement with The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to provide gang resistance education and training, which grant agreement was approved by RS2007-27; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend that grant agreement to change the end date of the grant term from November 30, 2008 to June 30, 2009, a copy of which Amendment One is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this amendment be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant amendment by and between the U.S. Department of Justice and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for a gang resistance education and training program, a copy of which grant Amendment One is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Police Department based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
