RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-656

A resolution commending the Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge of the Order of the Arrow for its cheerful service in placing yellow ribbons in the Public Square to honor America’s military veterans on the occasion of Veterans Day 2008.

WHEREAS, by means of Resolution No. RS2008-488, the Metropolitan Council requested that the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation place yellow ribbons in appropriate places in Nashville’s Public Square in observance of Veterans Day as a way to honor the men and women of our Armed Forces serving our country in conflict overseas; and

WHEREAS, Curt Garrigan, Assistant Director of the Metro Parks and Recreation Department requested assistance from the Boy Scouts of America in the placement of the ribbons; and

WHEREAS, that call for assistance was answered by members of the Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge of the Order of the Arrow who met at the Public Square on Saturday, November 2, 2008; and

WHEREAS, the Order of the Arrow is Scouting's National Honor Society, comprised of more than 180,000 members exemplifying the Scout Oath and Scout Law in their daily lives as they maintain camping traditions and spirit, promote year-round and long-term resident camping, and provide cheerful service to others; and

WHEREAS, the following Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge Arrowmen participated in the ribbon placement:

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as commending the Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge of the Order of the Arrow for its cheerful service in placing yellow ribbons in the Public Square to honor America’s military veterans on the occasion of Veterans Day 2008.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge of the Order of the Arrow.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
