RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-652

A resolution recognizing Mr. Chris Henson as Interim Director of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, for the past 12 months, Mr. Chris Henson served in the capacity of Interim Director of the Metropolitan School System with dedication; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as Interim Director Mr. Henson collaborated with the Tennessee Department of Education in a significant restructuring of the school district; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Henson provided steady, reliable leadership during a time of growth and progress in the academic development of our young people, all the while meeting his ongoing responsibilities for the system’s finances as Assistant Superintendent for Business and Facility Services; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Henson is to be commended for his diligent efforts to improve educational opportunities for all children and for his leadership in developing innovative programs for the students of our city; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mr. Chris Henson for his dedication, contributions and day-to-day involvement as Interim Director of the Metropolitan School System.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. Chris Henson as Interim Director of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerks Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Chris Henson.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
