RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-595

A resolution recognizing and congratulating Third Place Winner Triston Kendell on his winning entry in the “Put Waste in its Place: Keep Nashville Beautiful” art contest.

WHEREAS, Warner Enhanced Option School 3rd grader Triston Kendell, is a highly motivated and talented young man whose creative abilities, under the direction of Art teacher Sheila Crenshaw, allowed him to submit the third place winning artwork in the “Put Waste in its Place: Keep Nashville Beautiful” contest; and

WHEREAS, the “Put Waste in its Place: Keep Nashville Beautiful” contest was opened to all Metro public elementary third and fourth graders, with the top 70 entries being displayed on the sides of city waste trucks; and

WHEREAS, the competition was sponsored by the Metro Nashville Public Schools, Metro Nashville Public Works and Red River Service Corporation, Nashville’s largest waste collection service provider; and

WHEREAS, Triston Kendell’s, art work was displayed during a public viewing on Saturday, December 6, 2008, on Titans Way, will be displayed on household waste collection trucks during the next six months as part of a citywide campaign to promote recycling and city beautification, and he also received prize money for his school’s art department; and

WHEREAS, his achievements are a tremendous source of pride for his family, friends, and his school; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Triston Kendell and extends their congratulations to him on his accomplishment and encourage him to seek opportunities to expand his horizons and capabilities.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record recognizing and congratulating Third Place Winner Triston Kendell on his winning entry in the “Put Waste in its Place: Keep Nashville Beautiful” art contest.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Triston Kendell of Warner Enhanced Option School.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
