RESOLUTION NO. RS2009-1028

A resolution appropriating funds from the United States Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Action Commission to support the Head Start Program.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Action Commission previously entered into a grant contract with the United States Department of Health and Human Services to support the Head Start Program.

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant contract by adding $236,880.00 for a new total of $11,001,495.00 with an in-kind match of $59,219.00, which reflects a one-time supplement for program improvements including the purchase of video surveillance systems, door entry safety systems at four Head Start centers, and one 48 passenger bus, a copy of which amendment three is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the funds received pursuant to amendment three to the grant contract between the Metropolitan Action Commission and the United States Department of Health and Human Services, for program improvements including the purchase of video surveillance systems, door entry safety systems at four Head Start centers, and one 48 passenger bus, a copy of which amendment three is attached hereto and incorporated herein, be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
