RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-591
A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to introduce and enact the necessary legislation to fund and complete the installation of improved lighting, sidewalks, streetscape projects and landscape projects associated with a Lebanon Road Corridor Study.
WHEREAS, the transportation recommendations included as part of the 2004 Donelson Subarea Land Use Plan called for the completion of a Corridor Management Plan for the Donelson area; and
WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Department of Public Works and the Metropolitan Planning Commission are currently working to complete the projects associated with this recommendation; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the Corridor Management Plan includes improved sidewalks, new lighting, streetscape enhancements and landscape projects; and
WHEREAS, a number of community meetings have been held in the Donelson area to provide for citizen input into the plan; and
WHEREAS, State Route 24 (Lebanon Road) from Briley Parkway to Stewart’s Ferry Pike is in need of these transportation enhancements for the safety of the thousands of daily motorists traveling on Lebanon Road and for the overall welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, in order to meet state legislative filing deadlines, it is necessary that the Metropolitan Council submit its request for funding to the Davidson County Delegation prior to the beginning of the state legislative session; and
WHEREAS, this resolution is a companion to Resolution No. RS2008-576, sponsored by Councilman James Bruce Stanley, requesting the Davidson County Delegation to fund the construction of a turn lane on Lebanon Road from Stewart’s Ferry Pike to Disspayne Drive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to introduce and enact the necessary legislation to fund and complete the installation of improved lighting, sidewalks, streetscape projects and landscape projects along Lebanon Road from Briley Parkway to Stewart’s Ferry Pike.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
