RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-566

A resolution approving a grant agreement between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Public Works Department, for construction/repair on the Dry Creek Bridge on Dry Fork Road under the State Aid Bridge Program, Project No. 19-455-3408-04.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, makes funds eligible to counties for bridge repair when the bridge appears on the Non-federal aid or the OFF system lists for replacement; and,

WHEREAS, the Dry Creek Road Bridge is eligible for such grant funding through the State Aid Bridge Program; and,

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed $211,409.06 with a required cash match of $50,532.26 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Public Works Department, for construction/repair on the Dry Creek Bridge on Dry Fork Road under the State Aid Bridge Program; and,

WHEREAS, the bridge repair project proposes to construct a new concrete slab bridge on Dry Fork Road over Dry Creek in Davidson County; and,

WHEREAS, the award of this funding to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County was withdrawn in 2007 and subsequently re-bid in 2008; and,

WHEREAS, the 2008 award requires a new State Aid Agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Public Works Department, and the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation in an amount not to exceed $211,409.06 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Public Works Department, for construction/repair on the Dry Creek Bridge on Dry Fork Road under the State Aid Bridge Program, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Metropolitan Public Works Department based on revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3: That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
