RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-521
A resolution requesting CSX Transportation, Inc., to paint the railroad bridge over the Cumberland River north of James Robertson Parkway.
WHEREAS, over the past seven years, the Metropolitan Government has spent millions of dollars to improve our bridge system in downtown Nashville, including the construction of the Gateway and the Shelby Pedestrian bridges, and the painting of the Woodland Street and James Robertson Parkway bridges; and
WHEREAS, these new bridges and improvements to the existing bridges have greatly enhanced the aesthetics of downtown Nashville; and
WHEREAS, CSX Transportation, Inc., owns and maintains a railroad bridge over the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville just north of James Robertson Parkway; and
WHEREAS, this CSX bridge has not been painted in many years, and its unsightly appearance detracts from the beauty of downtown Nashville; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that CSX take action to paint this bridge and to make other needed enhancements to the bridge for the betterment of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting CSX Transportation, Inc., to paint the railroad bridge over the Cumberland River north of James Robertson Parkway.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to CSX Transportation, Inc.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
